Nursery
A safe, loving and welcoming nursery is provided for children birth through age 4. The nursery is staffed each Sunday with 2 adult supervisors. Typically, nursery staff is hired from the student body of the University and often these individuals are studying early childhood education. On rare occasions, we may ask for assistance from congregational volunteers.
Nursery Family Potlucks are held to enable family members of nursery-aged children to share a meal, have relaxing conversation, and get to know one another and the nursery staff.
Preschool Sunday School
Make sure to bring your smile and giggles to church! Children learn all about God’s love for them and the world by reading stories, singing songs, playing games and making art projects. Located right in the nursery and open to all children ages 3-5, Preschool Sunday School meets from 8:45-9:15am throughout the school year. Children are welcome to keep playing in the nursery all the way through worship, or join the congregation in worship. We love it when kids are in the Sanctuary! Children will have the opportunity to listen to beautiful music, read from the Children’s Bibles, enjoy the children’s message and connect to Frame’s entire church family.
Children’s Church
Building off of Preschool Sunday School and our new Practice-Based Christian Education program, we are introducing Children’s Church in 2009! Children ages 4-grade 2 are invited to experience a kid-friendly form of worship. Kids will learn more about what worship means and why it is important. Children’s Church will include a sharing time, singing, a short Bible lesson, an offering and a small craft or activity. All children will re-join their families for Communion.
SPYkids: On A Mission
“It’s a Jungle Out There!”
All children in grades K-4 have the opportunity to become a “SPY,” or “Spirit-Powered Youth.” The ‘SPY’s meet at ‘Mission Control,’ upstairs each week from 8:30-9:20am. A special ‘Secret Agent’ will give them a mission to accomplish each week. This ‘Secret Agent’ will then help them to investigate, explore, and carry-out the mission. By the end of their time together, and after a nutritious snack, each ‘SPY’ will certainly be saying “Mission Accomplished!” Each class has one or two special adults, or “Commander-In-Chief” (CIC) that have the very important role of building relationships with the children in their class. Our hope is that every child forms a special connection with their ‘CIC.’
Our “SPYkids: On a Mission” program is based upon a form of Christian Education that is Practice-Based. The goal of our new curriculum is to recognize that we are not just trying to transmit information, but indeed to form disciples. Our education program involves active engagement with God’s Word, the Church, God, and the world.
Children that participate in SPYkids are taught not only think theologically, but also to do what Jesus did: reach out to others, break bread together, heal the sick, feed the hungry, worship God, and pray. We want students to live out discipleship, so we actively engage them with God, the Church, and the wider world, including the good gift of God’s creation.
We are in the second year of developing a three-year scope and sequence that will determine which Bible stories will be taught and how we will integrate teaching of faith practices. Each year, we have “units” that focus on the following theological concepts and/or practices: Creation Care, Stewardship, Pastoral Care, Worship, Fellowship, Spirituality, and Mission.
Kids’ Club
Students in grades 5-6 are invited to become part of a fellowship group called Kids’ Club. Often seen as a comfortable transition to youth group, Kids’ Club is fun, meaningful, and focuses on faith-in-action! Kids have the chance to participate in age-appropriate Christian practices, including creation care, stewardship, pastoral care, worship, fellowship, spirituality and mission. Throughout the school year, Kids’ Club typically meets once per month on a Sunday afternoon and includes completing local service projects.
YOUTH
Youth Group
Youth group meets weekly throughout the school year on Wednesday afternoons in the Fellowship Hall. We emphasize spirituality, acceptance, understanding, awareness, education, and mission. In addition to our weekly meetings, youth have the opportunity to participate in additional fun and constructive experiences including service projects, retreats and mission trips.
Confirmation
Confirmation class is held every other year for young people in grades 7 and above.
Youth Involvement
We encourage all students in Grades 7-12 to get involved! Many students have active roles in church leadership, congregational activities and our Sunday School program.
ADULT
Adult education includes the Presbyterian Women study; a Wednesday afternoon book study for women in the workplace; a Thursday Men's study, and a variety of offerings on Sunday morning after worship.
